About Camp Bonas

Preparing children for life beyond home

Boarding school is an important, carefully considered step. Academic readiness matters, but so does emotional confidence, independence and social ease.We designed Camp Bonas to prepare children for that transition in a way that is structured, supportive and deeply aligned with the Bonas MacFarlane ethos.

Hosted in the rural Somerset countryside, children can explore their independence in a safe, well-considered environment, build lifelong relationships, and experience what it’s like to live independently.

What to expect

A light introduction to independence

Living away from home for the first time is a significant milestone and Camp Bonas was designed to help children experience that independence in a safe, well-supervised environment, before they arrive at boarding school.

Children learn how to manage daily routines, navigate shared living, communicate confidently with peers and adults, and adapt to life beyond the familiar rhythms of home. Boarding schools look for more than academic ability. They observe how children interact, how they manage themselves socially, and how comfortably they engage in unfamiliar environments.
