An international, high-net-worth family is seeking an experienced and highly capable full-time tutor and mentor to support their 11-year-old son. This is a nuanced and rewarding role requiring a professional who can combine academic instruction, emotional sensitivity, and structured mentoring to help a young person rebuild confidence and gradually reintegrate into a school environment.
This position goes well beyond traditional tutoring. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the child’s academic progress, emotional well-being, and personal development, working closely with the family and other professionals involved in his care.
Role Overview
This requires a tutor who understands the importance of consistency, patience, emotional regulation, and trust-building, alongside clear academic expectations.
In April, they will either continue homeschooling until the new academic year or attend a school with close tutorial support. The role will also involve international travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, structured academic tuition aligned with the child’s age, ability, and future schooling plans.
- Provide calm, consistent mentoring support to help rebuild confidence and resilience.
- Establish clear routines, expectations, and boundaries to support emotional security and focus.
- Support gradual reintegration into a school environment, working alongside schools where appropriate.
- Adapt teaching and mentoring approaches to meet the needs of the pupil
- Encourage positive learning habits, independence, and self-belief in a sensitive, age-appropriate way.
- Work collaboratively with parents, tutors, and other professionals to ensure continuity of care and approach.
- Travel with the family as required and maintain educational continuity across locations.
Candidate Profile
- Highly experienced private tutor, ideally with previous experience in a similar full-time or residential role.
- Confident working with children who require both academic support and emotional mentoring.
- Calm, grounded, and emotionally intelligent, with a natural ability to build trust.
- Able to balance warmth and empathy with structure, boundaries, and high expectations.
- Professional, discreet, and comfortable working within a high-net-worth family environment.
- Flexible, adaptable, and happy to travel internationally.
- UK curriculum experience strongly preferred.
Location & Accommodation
- London: The tutor is expected to provide their own accommodation.
- Travel: When travelling with the family, en-suite accommodation will be provided or based in a staff apartment.
Contract & Package
- Full-time, 12-month contract (renewable).
- Competitive salary, dependent on experience.
