Residential Travelling Tutor | September Start

A family is looking for a highly accomplished and adaptable residential tutor to support the education of three academically able children (ages 12, 9 and 8) within a structured, travel-based learning environment.


Role Overview

This is a unique, full-time residential position combining academic tuition with international travel. The role is expected to commence in September in Europe, with onward travel anticipated to:

  • Australia and New Zealand
  • Southeast Asia
  • South America

The family will typically reside in each location for 3–5 weeks, in high-quality private accommodation.


Educational Structure

The programme will balance academic rigour with enrichment and cultural exposure:

  • Three teaching days per week (approximately 5 hours per day)
  • Remaining time dedicated to enrichment, cultural exploration, and experiential learning
  • A collaborative approach, with parents actively engaged in the children’s education
  • Flexibility to follow either a UK or US curriculum framework

Academic Focus

  • Preparation of the eldest child for Algebra I (8th Grade level)
  • Development of Spanish language proficiency (desirable) 
  • Increased emphasis on science-led, inquiry-based learning
  • Delivery of engaging, discussion-driven lessons, moving beyond worksheet-based teaching
  • Integration of place-based learning, linking academic content to travel experiences

The Pupils

The pupils are academically strong, well-mannered, and intellectually curious:

  • The eldest is thoughtful, diligent, and self-directed
  • The younger children are energetic, creative, and inquisitive
  • Shared interests include sport (basketball and football), creative arts, science, technology, and outdoor pursuits

Tutor Profile

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Have a sense of adventure
  • Proven experience teaching within KS2/KS3 or equivalent US frameworks
  • The ability to differentiate effectively across age groups and learning styles
  • Strong organisational skills and flexibility within a dynamic, travel-based setting
  • A genuine interest in holistic and experiential education

Contract & Package

  • Full-time: September to June/ July – exact dates to be confirmed
  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience.
  • Travel, Accommodation, and visa costs covered
